• Drill-Less Cavity Removal: Instead of a dental drill, Dr. Howard uses air abrasion as well as laser dentistry to remove dental decay. Air abrasion uses a stream of compressed air and tiny abrasive particles to whisk away decay. Our DELight laser removes decayed matter with the power of light and a soft spray of water. Both technologies are so gentle that most patients don't require anesthesia. They're great for people who don't like needles or drills.
• Intraoral Cameras: With a digital intraoral camera, Dr. Howard can detect small problems before they become a serious threat to your oral health. A small, wand-shaped sensor collects and transmits images from inside your mouth to a computer monitor, where they are displayed at up to 60 times their actual size. In addition to helping Dr. Howard diagnose problems that would otherwise remain unseen, the camera's images help you become an active partner in treatment planning.
• Laser Dentistry: We use a state-of-the-art DELight hard- and soft-tissue laser to remove dental decay, perform biopsies, recontour gum tissue, treat gum disease, and more. Most patients don't require anesthesia and resume normal activities the day of their treatments. Laser dentistry is fast, too, so you'll spend less time in the dental chair.
• Patient Education: Part of feeling at ease at the dentist's office is understanding your options. Dr. Howard's multimedia patient education program covers an extensive range of dental topics, from dental hygiene and restorative options to cosmetic dentistry and combating gum disease. In addition to computer-based presentations and patient education brochures, Dr. Howard and our staff are always available to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have.
• Smile Imaging: Do you want a glimpse of your new smile before beginning treatment? We can create a digital image of your smile showing the proposed benefits of specific therapies. A smile preview is a great tool to help you decide which treatments will deliver the look your after.
