If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your front teeth, there is a wonderful solution in sight.
Porcelain veneers in Marietta are an increasingly popular option for your friends and colleagues, as
they offer a beautiful transformation in just two visits to the dentist. And with proper care and
maintenance, veneers can last for up to 20 years! Keep reading to learn how Leading Edge Dentistry can
help you love your smile with porcelain veneers.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

A porcelain veneer is a thin covering that is customized to enhance an individual tooth. It can be placed
on any of the teeth that show when you smile. Here, veneers can enhance the appearance of any number of
cosmetic issues, including…

  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Uneven teeth
  • Slightly gapped or misaligned teeth (can even have an “instant braces” effect)
  • Stains or discoloration
  • Oddly shaped teeth (too pointy or short)
  • Teeth with irregular surfaces, like pits and grooves
  • And other cosmetic imperfections

The veneer treatment is reserved for aesthetically flawed but healthy teeth. More serious issues, like
decay or severe wear and tear, will require a restorative solution — like a dental crown or inlay/onlay.

What Are the Benefits of Veneers?

Our patients love the numerous advantages offered by our porcelain veneers in West Cobb. Some of the most
popular benefits include…

  • Several cosmetic imperfections can be erased all at once with veneers
  • Veneers are highly customizable to ensure the end result is naturally beautiful
  • Porcelain is far more resistant to stains than your natural tooth enamel, meaning veneers will stay
dazzlingly white for years and years
  • Veneers may even eliminate the need for braces
  • Most adults who are in suitable oral health can benefit from veneers

How Are Porcelain Veneers Applied?

Dental veneers are placed over the course of two visits to our office.

  • First appointment: We will take care of all the prep work. That means removing a small portion of
tooth enamel from each tooth that will receive a veneer, taking impressions, and placing temporary
veneers to cover up the prepared teeth. Your treatment plan is sent to our partner lab, where
veneers are crafted by an expert.
  • Second appointment (usually a couple of weeks later): Your veneers are ready. You return to our
office, we remove the temporaries and make sure the new restorations look perfect. After everything
has been confirmed, a special bonding agent will be applied to the surface of each tooth and the
veneers are finally placed on. We know you will love the results!

How Do I Take Care of Porcelain Veneers?

Taking excellent care of your veneers will help to ensure that they stay healthy and strong for as long
as possible. If you play contact sports or grind your teeth at night, make sure you invest in a
custom-fitted mouthguard or sportsguard to protect your investment. Avoid damaging habits like
nailbiting and chewing on foreign objects (pens, ice, etc.). And never, ever open packages with your
teeth! If you do break of damage a veneer, get in touch with our office right away.

Let’s Talk About Veneers!

Are you ready to talk about how veneers can transform your smile? We invite you to get in touch with Leading Edge Dentistry to schedule an appointment with
your cosmetic dentist in Marietta today. We can’t wait to help you love your smile!

Understanding the Cost of Veneers

You get what you pay for when it comes to cosmetic dentistry, and that’s no different with veneers. By
investing in veneers for your smile, you can ensure it looks its absolute best. When you want that
Hollywood smile, it’s hard to recommend anything other than veneers. If you’re concerned about enhancing
your smile on a budget, speak with our team to learn about all your cosmetic options.

Cost vs. Cosmetic Dentistry: What’s Right for My Needs?

While veneers can be an exceptional solution for your smile imperfections, they aren’t the only cosmetic
tool available at your disposal. Consider the pros, cons, and costs associated with other services we
provide below:

  • Teeth Whitening – Both in-office and take-home whitening solutions can affordably
make your smile several shades whiter. However, it won’t help you address the size or shape of your
    teeth.
  • One-Visit Cosmetic Bonding – Not only is cosmetic bonding one of the fastest ways
to make small changes to the shape and appearance of your tooth, but it’s incredibly affordable.
However, you’ll need to have touch-ups performed every few years to maintain your results.
  • Cosmetic Gum Lifting – When excess gum tissue is covering your teeth, it can make
them look smaller. Through cosmetic gum lifting, you can permanently alter your gums to make your
smile look fuller and more even. However, this treatment may not be for everyone.
  • Veneers – It’s no secret that veneers are not cheap, but they do resolve several
imperfections at a time and help you achieve the ideal shape, color, and size of your individual
teeth. When you want the most comprehensive solution, veneers are well worth it!

Our office will help you determine the best service (or combination of services) to meet your smile
goals. Once we have a personalized treatment plan, you’ll have a much better idea of your total costs.

How to Make Veneers Affordable

In most cases, dental insurance will not offer coverage for veneers or other forms of cosmetic dentistry.
That means you’ll likely need to pay out-of-pocket for your smile makeover. However, there are options
available to you that can help make your care more affordable. For example, third-party financing
options like CareCredit and Lending Club allow you to pay for treatments in monthly installments over a
longer period of time. These installments come with little to zero interest attached, making cosmetic
dentistry much easier to fit into a tight budget.

Alternatively, you can take advantage of your flexible savings account (FSA) or enroll into your in-house
membership plan to save on preventive services like exams, cleanings, and more. That way, more of your
funds can go towards the cosmetic treatments you want, including veneers.

To learn more about your financing options, give Leading Edge Dentistry a call. We look forward to
helping you transform your smile through veneers and other cosmetic enhancements!

Veneers FAQs

If you’re looking to change numerous aspects of your smile, veneers are an excellent option. However,
they are quite an investment, so it pays to be well-informed. Here are the answers to some of the most
common questions we receive about veneers in Marietta. If you don’t see the information that you’re
looking for below, give us a call! We’d be happy to answer your questions and
schedule you for an initial consultation to learn more.

Are Veneers Permanent?

Veneers are not technically permanent since they will eventually have to be replaced. However, they are
considered to be irreversible. Small amounts of enamel need to be removed to ensure that the veneers fit
properly on the teeth without appearing bulky. This will not grow back, so teeth that have been prepared
in this way will always need to be covered with veneers or crowns.

Will I Still Be Able to Drink Coffee with Veneers?

Veneers that are made from porcelain are stain-resistant. This is because porcelain is a non-porous
material, so the particles in dark-colored foods and beverages have a harder time slipping beneath the
surface and discoloring them. Ultimately, you should be able to drink coffee and other drinks without
worrying too much about staining your veneers. Just keep in mind that veneers are not stain-proof.
Excessive consumption of dark-colored foods and beverages can still have a negative impact over time.
Moderation is key.

Do Veneers Give You a Lisp?

Some people have trouble pronouncing certain words when they first get veneers, resulting in a temporary
lisp. This is partially due to muscle memory. The tongue is not used to accounting for the presence of
veneers when you talk. This tiny difference in thickness affects the way your tongue moves. The tongue
will eventually adjust on its own, although practicing the pronunciation of certain sounds can help to
speed this process along.

How Many Veneers Will I Need?

The goal of dental veneers is for all of your visible teeth to match, so you’ll receive an appropriate
number of veneers to accomplish that goal. Some patients opt for a single veneer to cover one pesky
tooth while others get anywhere between 6 to 12 veneers for a more complete smile makeover. During your
consultation with us, we will discuss the goals you have for your smile and what the right number is for
you.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This office is amazing! When I arrive for my hygiene visits, the front staff is always very friendly! I don’t have to wait long for the hygienist to bring me back and throughout the visit she explains each step. The doctor is very thorough in reviewing the recommended treatment. When I had to have treatment completed- the doctor explained each step of the procedure. The numbing injection was painless and they made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. My whole family (including my 2 kids) does not mind visiting the dentist anymore. Dr. Howard and his team are wonderful!

I have been a patient for 25+ years. Dr. Howard and his staff are wonderful. He makes sure that any procedure is painless. I recently had some cosmetic dentistry work performed and could not be more pleased with the results. The changes look very natural and I wish I had done it sooner. Dr. Howard spent a lot of time designing a new smile for me. He provided pictures of what to expect afterwards and it exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Leading Edge Dentistry. They are true professionals.

I had my regular dental check up at Dr. Howard's practice yesterday since this pandemic stuff started. I was a little nervous, because this was my first visit to an establishment like this since the shutdown. I had nothing to worry about. It was an extremely pleasant experience and I felt comfortable from the very initial contact. The office staff were efficient, and made the revised check-in process to ensure the pandemic procedures were followed seem effortless. I only had to wait a couple of minutes for my appointment and was seated in a separate room from other in-coming patients. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Dr. Howard kept his patients informed on all the additional precautions he was taking to ensure that both patients and staff are protected from the virus. I was very impressed with his efforts and the new ventilation system. The office, while always clean and fresh, seemed even more so, if possible. I felt totally comfortable during the whole visit. I trust Dr. Howard and his staff and appreciate all they do.
